Lawrence Board of REALTORS® Releases Home Sales Figures for September 2024
Homes sales in the City of Lawrence fell by 7.4% in September compared to the prior year. Sales in September 2024 totaled 63 units, down from 68 in 2023.
Among existing homes, 61 units sold in September, essentially unchanged from the same period last year. The average sale price of existing homes was $312,784. This represents a decrease of 8.9% from the September 2023 average price of $343,514.
For new construction, 2 sales occurred in September, down from 7 units the prior year, a decrease of 71.4%. The average sale price of new homes in September was $450,000, up 6.3% from the same period last year.
A total of 97 contracts for sale were written in September 2024, up from 67 in September 2023. This is an increase of 44.8%. Contracts written during the month reflect, in part, sales that will close in the near future.
The inventory of active listings in the City of Lawrence stood at 180 units at the end of September, which is up from 145 homes that were on the market at the end of September last year. At the current rate of sales, this figure represents 2.5 months' supply of homes on the market.
